It’s All in the Eyes

She can feel the slow slide of Angelus’s eyes as they move down her body - appraising, assessing - and it seems familiar. There’s a tactile quality to the way his stare caresses her, his eyes as bold as a lover’s, and she suddenly knows, with thunderbolt clarity, that he’s revisiting accustomed terrain, that Angel’s eyes have been where his are going, and for the same reason. It’s now that Fred understands why Angel prefers Cordelia, who speaks of his demon as if he’s someone utterly separate, a double unrelated to the man Angel wants so badly to believe he is. But as those eyes move back up to rest for a moment between her thighs, Fred knows better.
